At the end of your stay you will long to return again. You will leave relaxed and full of great memories. PALEO PARK is a place to meet new friends and share everlasting memories.
Guests are able to enjoy our magnificent outdoors, with an unforgettable view day or night. There are many fossils just waiting to be uncovered and put on display for our future generations. At PALEO PARK our main goal is to let everyone young and old study dinosaurs. We believe that in the Lance formation, where our dinosaurs have been located, we have the best specimens to show. We think that there is no better place to study the nature of a dinosaur than in the Lance formation.
Frequently Asked Questions:
How far are you from the nearest hospital? We are located about 60 miles from Newcastle Wyoming which is our closest hospital.
Will we actually find something? YES!! Everyone will find something. You may take one piece that you find with you. What you may take is up to the Paleo Park Management discretion.
What should I bring with me? That depends on which tour you will participating in. Every tour should consist of water, sun block, insect repellent and hat. Be sure to contact us for more specific items.
How far off the pavement are you? We are 25 miles off the pavement.
I have young children, what age is best for the tours? That depends on your child's attention span. Usually 7 and up is best. The 2 hour tour tends to get long for younger ones and they start to lose interest. But again this is different for every child. On any of the tours we will be in the field for most of the time.
If I spend the night what should I bring with me? The only things you would really need are your personal items. We provide all bedding and towels.
What if I'm not really into dinosaurs, but would like to come stay to just get away? No problem. Arrangements can be made. Please contact us for further information.
How far are your closest neighbors? By the way the bird flies - about 7 miles.
What happens if I find a whole dinosaur? Great! But ownership will remain with Paleo Park. Again, it is up the the Paleo Park Management what guests get to take with them.
Are dinosaurs the focus on the tours? No! Obviously dinosaurs dominate our tours but other aspects are included. Ranch history, oil production, and ranch life are a few things you could get to see and learn about.
Can I bring my camera? Yes! By all means bring camera, video camera or any other items you may want to, to capture your trip. I guarantee you will want to share this experience with all your friends when you get home.
What kind of animals might we see? We have mule deer, antelope, prairie dogs, raccoons, bobcats, porcupines, all types of birds, rattlesnakes, bull snakes, rabbits, and skunks to just name a few.
Is it hot in the summer time? Yes, it can get really hot. Living in beautiful Wyoming we have a dry heat. Not much humidity here!
Will my tour get cancelled if it rains that day? It will depend on how much rain we get. We have 25 miles of dirt road and the last 5 miles doesn't have gravel. The mud here is a gumbo that turns to a grease mixture when mixed with water. Anyone who knows gumbo will understand this. When we have rain, we usually try to reschedule if we can. Tours get miserable when muddy. We usually ask that visitors call us the night before to check on roads and just to confirm the tour.
You mentioned that your driveway has no gravel? Will my car be able to make it in? Yes, your car will be able to make it. Although this is the "country" so an occasional rock or rut may be in the road. But even with the river crossing we rarely have problems. That is why we always ask to verify road conditions before the trip out for a tour.
